From Charity to Impact Investment

“Smile for Hope” was founded in Nepal in April 2012. While its initial purpose was to fund the treatment of pediatric cancer patients from the remote villages, the idea of a “standard charity” model quickly evolved into being a “social impactor”, with always in mind the empowerment of the local population.

Charity funding, as we know it, is an obsolete concept, which has the sad tendency of maintaining its protagonists in a co-dependence format. Our vision is to develop a solid, self-sustainable and empowering model that positively impacts the health and acts upstreams while structuring a web of social entrepreneurs who, through their engagement, help fund our ground operations.
